ICE BOY was privileged to participate in the 60th Annual Carnaval event in North Bay, Ontario. We are grateful to have been a part of this longstanding tradition that has been bringing joy to the community for decades. Our team was thrilled to create a 32-foot-long sculpture of the word “Carnaval” and a giant beaver sculpture, which were key components of the celebration.

The history of the North Bay Carnaval dates back to the mid-20th century when local volunteers organized a winter festival to lift the spirits of the community during the long and harsh Canadian winters. The first Carnaval was held in 1958, featuring winter-themed activities like ice skating, snowshoeing, and tobogganing. Over the years, the event grew in popularity, attracting visitors from across Ontario and beyond. Today, the North Bay Carnaval is a beloved annual tradition that showcases the best of Canadian winter culture.

As a company specializing in creating ice sculptures, ICE BOY was a natural fit for the Carnaval event. We take pride in transforming blocks of ice into breathtaking works of art and were excited to bring our expertise to this iconic celebration. However, the weather conditions posed a significant challenge. With temperatures dropping to -30 degrees Celsius, our trucks froze and wouldn’t start. Despite these obstacles, our team worked tirelessly to deliver a truly awe-inspiring result.

Creating the sculptures required precision, skill, and teamwork. Our carvers worked around the clock, using chainsaws, chisels, and specialized tools to craft intricate details that make our ice sculptures stand out. The 32-foot-long sculpture of the word “Carnaval” was a masterpiece in itself, created with precision and attention to detail that made it appear as if it were floating on air. The giant beaver sculpture was equally impressive, a testament to the skill and expertise of our carvers who brought this majestic animal to life in ice.

The sculptures were installed safely and securely, bringing joy to the North Bay community. We were proud to be part of such a wonderful event that has become an important part of the region’s cultural identity. Our team was honored to contribute to the success of the 60th Annual Carnaval, and we hope our sculptures left a lasting impact on the community.

Besides creating the sculptures, we also had the opportunity to participate in the event and experience everything the North Bay community had to offer. We were amazed by the warmth and hospitality of the locals, who welcomed us with open arms despite the freezing temperatures. Taking part in winter activities like snowshoeing, dog sledding, and tobogganing allowed us to fully appreciate the beauty and wonder of the Canadian winter.

We are passionate about our craft, believing that our ice sculptures have the power to inspire, amaze, and create unforgettable memories. We take great pride in creating works of art that not only look beautiful but also capture the essence of the event or occasion they are created for.

In conclusion, we express sincere gratitude to the North Bay community for allowing us to be a part of their cherished annual tradition. We are honored to have contributed to the 60th Annual Carnaval with our sculptures, and we hope that our presence added to the magic of the event.

At ICE BOY, we will continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible. We look forward to creating more awe-inspiring sculptures that capture the essence of the events and occasions they are created for.
