Many people think our sculptures are made out of molds. They’re wrong. Some think our sculptures are cut with a special laser. They’re also wrong. Our logos are actually manually computer traced before being cut by a CNC machine. If you’re unfamiliar with a CNC machine, what it does is take the coordinates programmed on the computer and use them to drill directly into the ice with a robo-controlled router. While this does allow us to re-create logos with precision, there are a few limitations that are worth noting.
Ice can be a fragile medium, certain things will cause it to crack, or cause small bits of ice to pop out. It can also only cut so fine before things will just stick together and turn into unappealing blobs. Our smallest drill bit is 1/8th of an inch thick, so on a large sculpture there’s a good chance we’ll be able to create your logo true to form, but on the event that we can’t there’s lots of adjustments and modifications that can be made to your logo to make sure it looks good in ice.
One of our larger events we worked with a realtor in Woodbridge for a realtor’s breakfast event. Our now regular customer wanted his guests to remember the event and pulled out all the stops. Every company he or his colleagues represented he wanted to acknowledge. We created 9 stunning logo sculptures representing all of these companies. We created 9 custom sculpture with the company branding on it and incorporated colour with each. Our customer was more than pleased and his guests were blown away. We recreated the logos of RBC, Home Life, Century 21, Royal LePage, ReMax, Sutton Group, Coldwell Bank, and more. The branding for this event was a key feature and the clean and colourful logos were a talking point throughout the day. There are definitely some challenges to freezing items in ice. Our normal process time for making a block is approximately 3 days to make a 300 lb crystal clear block. When freezing items inside this can add an additional day or 2. There is also the challenge of making your product and brand stay in the correct position during the freezing process so it displays exactly how you want it.
