weston village

After a long and slow season for events and ice sculptures due to COVID- 19 restrictions. Our 2021 Winter season was kicked off with a large order for Weston Village’s WinterFest.

It was a very 0-100 period, we had gone from doing the occasional sculpture for an event or small gathering to 9 large scale sculptures for one day! We actually brought in an extra carver to give Danny a hand with some of the hand carved elements. Thanks Rob! The difference between a hand carved sculpture and one done on our CNC machine is time which we did not have a lot of. The extra body and the team assisting in any way possible allowed us to stay organized on tasks. Danny’s main focus was getting the programs for the CNC completed, while Richard and Peter continually loaded and trimmed the blocks. Thanks to the help and teamwork we didn’t have to put in any extremely long days to complete the order on time. The details and sculptures were all completed with time to spare for any hiccups. Hypitch provided us with a map for each location for placement of the sculptures which was extremely helpful when prepping for the delivery. The team worked together to plan the route for the day of set up so we were prepped and organized. Truck was loaded and ready the night before so it was get in and go in the morning. Danny and the Ice Boy team work tirelessly to complete this 9 sculpture order in time for the event. This event coincided with the 12 days of Christmas in Little Italy so the team was split in two, Danny and Rich took care of the first drop on College St and then headed to Weston Village to help out. Peter and Greg headed for Weston Village with all the sculptures and we managed to get everything set up in only a few hours.

The designs were all sponsored by local businesses to bring the community together for its first community event in a long time. We did everything from a Sleigh sponsored by FreshCo that you could sit in for a photo to beautiful hand carved angel wings sponsored by Castlepoint. Who also sponsored our favourite Frozen’s very own Olaf and another sleigh sculpture sponsored by West 22. There were snowflakes at the entrance to the outdoor market. And another sponsored by Central Ontario Building Trades. We also did a hand carved snowman sponsored by the Westhaven Group. Tiger Towel and Royale had a large Tiger head design and cute little Royale hand carved kittens.  Thank you to the Weston Village BIA and all the sponsors for the trust to create all these sculptures for you. Also,  Hypitch marketing for the great organization for our set up. The whole team was on site for the multiple set ups at multiple locations! It was great to be a part of such a community event and the team executed the set up perfectly!.  Team work really does make the dream work.
