Frequently Asked Questions About Packaged Ice

On average, we suggest one 12 kg bag per 10 guests for your bar. One 12 kg bag of ice fills 50 large red cups. If you're using the ice to chill beer, we suggest one 12 kg bag per two coolers.

We manufacture “tube ice.” Water runs down the inside of a cylinder and freezes. This produces pure, clear, tasteless ice. The hole is where the water ran through.

We offer a variety of Ice Merchandizer freezers for rent. Pricing depends on rental duration and location. Freezers require 110V power, and if an extension cord is needed, a heavy-duty power cord must be used. For rental inquiries, contact Peter Cole at peter@iceboy.ca.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ice Sculptures

Ordering & Payment

When a customer reaches out about an event, we discuss the event size, number of attendees, budget, and delivery details. Based on this information, we assign an appropriate sculpture size and provide a budget for the invoice. We can create a mock-up for a small fee, or it’s free if payment is made 90 days before the event. Once the mock-up is approved, we proceed with crafting and wrapping the ice sculpture for delivery. For inquiries, contact Danny at Danny@iceboy.ca.

Our craftsmanship speaks for itself. Each premium sculpture is a true work of art, meticulously carved by our skilled professionals. We focus on delivering exceptional quality and value, ensuring that every piece stands apart from ordinary offerings.

We recommend starting the process as soon as possible. You can fill out our easy online design form, and we'll create a sculpture tailored to your needs. Ideally, we like to finalize the design and payment two weeks before delivery. A rush fee may apply for orders placed less than 10 days before the event.

Our most popular promotion is $900, which includes a three-slab design, delivery within the GTA, professional setup, LED lighting, and a drip tray. Ice bars start at $1900 and include both setup and removal. All prices are subject to 13% HST.

A 25% deposit is required to confirm custom orders, with the remaining balance due 10 days prior to the event. We accept cash, cheque, Visa, Mastercard, and e-transfers. A 3% processing fee applies for Visa and Mastercard payments.

Delivery & Setup

For delivery, the sculpture is wrapped in blankets and recycled foam fabric for extra protection. If you're picking it up via Uber or another service, we also use the foam fabric to protect the sculpture during transport.

We aim to set up the ice sculpture approximately 2 hours before your event begins. This ensures it’s in place and ready before guests arrive. We charge an additional fee for deliveries after 5 PM.

We typically bring a drip tray, LED lights (which are battery-powered with a remote and color options), and the ice sculpture itself.

You’ll need a sturdy table that can support the sculpture, as each slab weighs around 150 lbs. Additionally, you’ll need a bucket large enough to capture the water that drains from the sculpture as it melts. This water is directed into the bucket through the drip tray's drain tube.

Longevity & Maintenance

The average ice sculpture lasts up to 8 hours, depending on the ambient temperature. If you need a sculpture to last longer, we can adjust the design to accommodate this.

The sculpture should last approximately 6-8 hours in typical conditions. If you expect higher temperatures or need the sculpture to last longer, let us know during the design phase, and we can adjust the design to increase its longevity. Ensure the table is sturdy and keep it away from heat sources to help the sculpture last longer.

Yes, ice sculptures naturally melt over time. However, they are designed to remain presentable for several hours, typically up to 8 hours, depending on the venue temperature.

Teardown & Removal

Yes, we charge a teardown fee. The cost varies based on the time, with an additional charge for teardown after 9 PM or 12 AM.

If we handle teardown, we carefully disassemble the sculpture and remove it from the venue. If you're removing it yourself, we recommend using an ice pick (which we can provide) to break the sculpture down. Start at the top, breaking off small, manageable chunks. Be cautious, as the ice is heavy and slippery. For colored or sand-filled sculptures, ensure that no materials like sparkle or sand are littered, and never pour these materials down the drain. Use a garbage pail to collect these items and dispose of them properly.

For sculptures filled with color or sand, extra care must be taken when disposing of the melted remnants. Avoid pouring the colored water or sand down the drain, as this can cause clogs or environmental damage. Instead, collect it in a pail or container and dispose of it responsibly. Make sure the surrounding area is cleaned to prevent littering sparkles or other materials.

Yes, we offer removal services within the GTA for a fee. After 9 PM, the fee is $200, and after midnight, it's $300. Please check with your venue or caterer, as some venues require removal by an insured professional.

Yes, but we recommend caution. We offer professional ice picks for purchase to help safely break down the sculpture. Start at the top and break off manageable chunks, as the ice is heavy and slippery. For your safety, we suggest using gloves and having a large plastic bin on hand for easy disposal. Please note, some venues may require removal by an insured professional.

No, returning the plastic drip tray and lights is optional. However, if you choose to return them, we offer a $10 buy-back option.

The weight depends on the design. A typical uncarved block of ice (20 in. x 40 in. x 10 in.) weighs around 300 lbs. Most table-top sculptures weigh between 250 to 400 lbs, so a sturdy table is essential.

Yes, we carry liability insurance of five million dollars. If your venue requires a copy of the policy or requests to be named as an additional insured, we can provide this for a $15 processing fee. Limited liability applies if full installation and removal services are not contracted.
